Welcome to Oomph Wharf

Facebook_NewLocation_2bLast week we left Harvard Square and headed east toward our new Boston home. Today, we’re excited to welcome you to our new Boston office located at 66 Long Wharf, a place where history runs deep and the views stretch wide across Boston Harbor, as well as the Innovation and Financial Districts. Our new digital digs include 3,500-square-feet of creative space located on three levels of the Custom House Block on Long Wharf—a Registered National Historic Landmark and treasured piece of Americana.

As we look out on our majestic 360-degree views of Boston Harbor, we see our future dancing along the horizon right along with the boats. Here in our new home, we intend to continue the legacy of Long Wharf. We will meet new challenges and guide future innovation for a dynamic digital industry. To achieve all this, we must hire the best. We have the space. Now the search is on for top talent.

Finally, we offer special thanks to all who’ve followed our journey on the road to Long Wharf. In the weeks ahead, you can continue to track our adventures here as we embark on a little redesign of the space. We think it needs some Oomph.

The Move is On!

We hope you’ve been following our progress as Oomph has started the journey relocating our offices from Harvard Square to Downtown Boston. We’ve sent clues in the form of postcards from our Facebook and Twitter accounts along the way.

Can you guess where our new offices are located?

If not, tune in Monday for the big reveal.

July 14th marked the beginning of yet another successful WordCamp in the City on a Hill, making it Boston’s third time to host the event. Approximately 600 speakers, attendees and volunteers arrived at Boston University from all over the world to congregate around a common entity, our beloved WordPress.

Saturday morning kicked off with one of what I found to be one of the most well-presented and informative talks, How We can have Nice Things, by K. Adam White.  The session was focused on demonstrating how the modern WordPress developer can spearhead new and upcoming web technologies such as CSS pre-processing, server-side Javascript, client-side templating, and source control.  Doing so allows developers to expand and update their creative process outside of the traditional LAMP stack workflows. continue reading

Remember how incredible summer camp was when you were a kid? We do.

It was all about discovery, fun and fellowship in the great outdoors … campfire stories, and cannonballs into the lake. Pretty great, right? Well, July’s WordCamp Boston is a lot like that, but instead of cannonballs into the lake, WordCampers dive headfirst into WordPress and then swim around for awhile—two days to be exact. In other words, it’s the ultimate summer camp for geeks like us. We’re so grateful for it, and this year we want to express our gratitude by giving back in a major way: We’re proud to announce Oomph’s Platinum Sponsorship of WordCamp Boston happening July 14 and 15 at Boston University.

WordCamp is a valuable educational experience that brings together WordPress developers, designers, bloggers, and businesses all under one roof to talk about one of our favorite things, the WordPress platform. Camp, which has grown steadily over the past few years, is expected to break records this year with between 600 and 800 attendees. It’s an informal, community-organized event created and led by people like us, who want to share what we know, see what’s next with the platform, and meet new WordPress enthusiasts, professionals, and enthusiastic professionals.
