Homepage featured large intro images, a welcome video, and bullet style information to start browsing Lifespan approached us with an unique problem: they needed a site that looked and felt a bit like a blog, but with more video content than blogs usually have. And they needed it designed and coded in five days.
Luckily, through a previous engagement, Oomph was already familiar with the Lifespan brand and its guidelines and constraints. The focus of this site was also very specific, and we knew who the audience was and how to talk to them. So we quickly set to work.
The result may not be the most innovative design in the world, but it is consistent, conforms to their brand, and has been tested in all major browsers (including IE6, a browser alive and “well” in the Lifespan corporate network). CSS3 elements – like opacity, rounded corners and box-shadows – degrade nicely for less-capable browsers, but CSS3 PIE helped keep most of that rendering consistent.
All of the content integration beyond our initial four templates was done in-house by staff in the marketing department. We took great care in commenting the code and keeping it organized so that another team could pick up the ball and flow the content for final approval.
All in all, from concept to deployment, it took about 1 month. Kudos to the Lifespan Marketing team for their efforts after our portion was delivered.
