Bright and fun, MeetAlex.com uses a restrained palette of typography and color Jellyvision – the creators of the popular interactive game show YOU DON”T KNOW JACK – and their sister company, Jellyvision Lab, have a product called ALEX, THE JELLYVISION BENEFITS COUNSELOR. ALEX is a personality in the form of an online interactive conversation (video, slides, animations, narration) that is custom tailored to large business to help explain employee benefits and help workers choose the best plans for them and their families.
The product has grown over the last few years and needed a new web presence to introduce users to ALEX. The design was developed closely with the Jellyvision team and evolved to become a bright and friendly interface for a witty, smart and fun interactive personality. Three templates are completely custom and outside the visual realm of a typical blog format, yet still editable in the WordPress system.
Since the product is video-based, video was a central component to the website experience. Cutting-edge HTML5 and handheld device support for video was delivered with a trusty Flash player fallback for desktops and devices. WordPress was customized to maintain links for a single video resource to four different video formats – OGG, WebM, full frame MP4 and 640 x 480px MP4.
In addition to the video components, the site was expected to deliver user information to help track leads. Integration with TimeDriver, Salesforce and Marketo were needed to track Newsletter opt-ins, video playback, and eBook sign-ups.
The result is a clean and functional website that delivers personality and valuable data about potential customers. A complex but fun product gets a like-minded website to help explain an important part of an employee’s life without being complicated or overwhelming.
